mom, it's wet....

Well, here is our flood report... a long story, long...

Kenna came in around 5am on Friday and said, " Mom, it's wet downstairs."
"Okay, hon... "  I, half-asleep,  followed her down to a VERY rude awakening at the bottom step - about 4 inches of ice cold water!! Ugh.

Really?

Both of our sump pumps had tripped sometime in the night and with all the rain and snow we were just getting it from all angles.  The farmer's field next door was running into our boulders and "dry" creek bed to where our pump was supposed to be pumping it out!  Instead it was coming through our downstairs door right into the family room!

We got both pumps started and got the water down, called servicemaster and they came and pumped out 1600 more gallons!  Really?  Ick.

We are SO thankful for amazing friends and neighbors.  I made one call to the Elder's Quorum President and we had more than a dozen people here within a half hour.  They moved EVERYTHING up to our garage and were absolutely life-saving!!  Wow.

Then my Dad showed up to step in when Kelly had to go to work.  I probably would've been in a corner, in tears, if he hadn't been here to keep me going!!

So, now we are in drying-out mode.  Seriously... and I am hoping it will all be dry someday.  We have 20 industrial size fans down there, it sounds like we will take off for the moon any minute.  But it seems to be working.  All is well.  It definitely could have been so much worse.

I am so grateful for the Bartons!  Because they were here, Maddie and Kenna were sleeping on the floor and discovered the wet!  Amy was awesome moral support... and although we had to cut our visit short - we had an adventure!!

And... we didn't lose too much AND we are all learning kindness and patience as we live in half our house.

But mostly, I am SO thankful for people who answer the call when others need help!   Amazing.

good news. bad news.

Good news?
Tuesday night Kelly and I had FABULOUS tickets to the
Bon Jovi
concert in Salt Lake City!

Bad news?
I didn't have my camera!!! UGH.

So, sorry.  You will have to trust JBJ was just as good as ever and that he rocked the house.
The VERY full, VERY hot, VERY loud house.

It was seriously awesome.
Thanks, honey.

Super B!

Party weekend!  Thursday we celebrated a little "which hand" with gifts for the big guy.  We also had a yummy gigantic chocolate chip birthday cookie!  Delicious.

On Friday the kids got out early ~ so we headed down to Thanksgiving Point to the dinosaur museum.  Braden was in heaven and loved it all.

My favorite quote of the day: "Mom, thanks for giving birth to me, so that I could celebrate my birthday."
Seriously, kid?  Love him! :)
Then on Saturday we wrapped it all up with a Super Mario Party ~ a fun-filled, fast-paced, game-crazy hour and a half.  (I needed a nap after the kids left!)

So, one successful seven-year old celebration?  Check.  Whew.

the other sister...

So, I am seriously NOT the creative sister in my family.  So... when I did TWO cute things all in one week ~  I just have to share!

I made birthday party invites for Braden's party!  Couldn't find cute Mario invitations ~ so Braden helped me make these
cute little guys!
... and then we put together little bags of gold coins for B. to hand out in first grade.  He didn't want cookies or cupcakes so after a little thought we decided we should take advantage of the whole St. Paddy's Day Birthday thing!  Loved it! :)

So, there you go.

tubing = happiness

Monday was a scheduled short day for our school district.
What better way to spend it?
 I loaded up the car,
picked up the kids,
and we headed to Park City!

I LOVE this picture of Braden being towed up the hill...
nothin' but boots!! :)

We had a REALLY good time at Gorgoza Park.
Beautiful day.
Lots of snow.
Cute kids.
The only thing missing from a perfect day...
was Kelly!!

No half day from work, unfortunately!
